This wooden plaque is another of my favorite thrift store finds. I found it in a box of old picture frames. The carved leaves look like trees and what I think are owls, on the outside edge, have an upside down heart-shaped beak. Sometimes those owls look like butterflies, to me. The center is carved in a lovely honeycomb pattern. I use this plaque all the time as a base for teapots, vases of flowers, or pretty bowls. On the back is a stampmark "INDIA". A yellow flower I crocheted adds some color.

Spring Is Here
Spring is here... Birds chatter away outside my window, streaky clouds stretch lazily across the blue sky, and all around, flowers are starting to bloom...

(Crochet) Chain Reaction
I'm on a crochet spree! Here is a lovely chain of crochet flowers, flowing out of an old silver plate and down to a cute little heart jewelry box. The heart is filled with pearls -- faux pearls, of course! How I wish they were real...

Flowery Diary
Today I wanted to show you this diary, with a decorated cover. The decorations include some of my crochet flowers, and a couple of cute little blue beaded flowers!
Beaded designs are a lot of fun to do, and they can be very beautiful. I think the beaded flowers add a bit of spontaneity amongst all the crochet work, a little twist of personality.

Cushy Crochet
Many apologies for the lack of updates! Today I wanted to share with you a little pin-cushion pillow I made, trimmed with some of my white crochet. I also wanted to highlight some crochet edgings I made in other colors and styles:

And to make up for my 5 day absence on the blog, I wanted to pass along a photo my son Thomas took while he was teaching in China:

Many more goodies to come in the days ahead! Stay tuned!

Fetching Frog I Found
Today is the day I do all my thrift store shopping. I would love to shop every day, but that just isn't practical!
I go to as many thrift stores as I can fit into one day. I usually find one treasure at each store -- so it's not too bad to limit my treasure hunt to a single day each week! My favorite buy of the day is this pewter-like frog with a compass:

I just love this piece, because of its cuteness. He's attached to a large safety bin, using a jump ring. The little compass seems to work remarkably well! This frog is so cute, I imagine it was somebody's favorite little charm. Now it's my favorite find... Especially since it goes so well with this yellow tie that I crocheted recently. What do you think?
